According to Kalu, whose statement was released by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, the President’s bold moves have disrupted the traditional norm, paving the way for meaningful change.
Before a crowded plenary session in Abuja, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu took the stage at the ECOWAS Parliament’s 2024 First Ordinary Session, sharing his perspectives and experiences with the esteemed gathering.

In his address, Deputy Speaker Kalu acknowledged the military’s successful efforts to degrade the capacity of armed groups in the region, while also applauding their transition to non-kinetic approaches, as championed by President Tinubu, to address conflicts and promote regional peace.
The Deputy Speaker revealed that this fresh understanding has not only restored serenity to the region but also created a window for a political solution, prompting appeals to the authorities to release imprisoned agitators and foster a more harmonious environment.
Kalu recommended that the sub-regional body borrow a leaf from this successful approach in resolving similar conflicts, emphasizing its potential to yield lasting and positive results.
