The Labour Party (LP) in the South East has lambasted the Governor Of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo over his emotional outburst against its Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
National Vice Chairman of LP in the zone, Chief Innocent Okeke pointed out that the party would have ordinarily ignored the governor as it is focused on strategic campaigns of reaching out to Nigerians who have willingly embraced Mr. Obi and the party as the much-awaited third force and credible alternative on Nigeria’s journey to national rebirth.  He said, however, that the party was constrained to call the Anambra governor to order in the interest of unsuspecting Nigerians. The party urged Soludo to embrace the movement for a new Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Friday which was obtained by The Eastern Updates, the party praised Soludo for his attainments as an academic and public officer, but urged him to retrace his steps.  The party implored the governor to once again face his new task of governing Anambra State instead of his latest venture to pull Peter Obi down.
‘Prof Soludo should have employed the wisdom of silence even if he so much hated Mr Obi, but for the sake of the Nigerian project stand with the mass of the people.
‘He should watch it going forward or he creates serious embarrassment for himself and governance as he too needs the support of the people to achieve.

‘Let us also remind Prof Soludo that he got it wrong when he erroneously and woefully tried to make the Obi/Datti presidential outing as an Igbo affair. No sir! Peter Obi/Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed presidential ticket is the collective aspiration of Nigerians. The Obi/Datti ticket is the new Nigeria dream!   “He must retrace his steps. Nigerians are wiser today than before, it is more reasonable to be on the side of the people to get things done.   “We, therefore, urge our professor to support this movement for a new Nigeria or keep his peace forever,’ LP further stated.

The Eastern Updates reports that the Governor has vowed not to apologise for his comments.
