Senator Obinna Ogba, representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone in the national assembly, yesterday called on his supporters to have confidence in the Supreme Court of Nigeria, despite its ruling on who becomes the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state.

Ogba disclosed that there is still one more appeal case pending in the apex court for ruling, and called on them, not to lose hope, that the national leadership of the PDP will soon decide on who becomes the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state.

The senator made this known while addressing stakeholders and teeming supporters during a solidarity rally that took place at his campaign office.

He said: ‘My reason for calling this meeting is to thank all of you for your support, for your solidarity to my humble self and I want to assure you that you will not be disappointed.

‘We have two cases in the Supreme Court, one has been decided and it’s not in our favor. We still have one in court.

‘I belong to the common people and the hope of a common man is the judiciary, I still have hope in the judiciary,’ he stressed.

The Eastern Updates reports that the Supreme Court had last week declared Ifeanyi Odii, also known as Anyichuks, as the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general election in the state.

Odii had won the governorship election of the party conducted at the state secretariat of the party on May 29, 2022.

But the party, in a shocking statement, cancelled the exercise and ordered a fresh election which produced Obinna Ogba (Ebonyi Central).

Angered by the cancellation, Odii proceeded to the Federal High Court, Abakaliki to seek redress.
