Tinubu Warns Peter Obi To Caution Supporters Over Fake News

Bola Tinubu who is the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate in the upcoming 2023 elections has openly called on his Labour Party opponent, Peter Obi, to caution his supporters against purveying fake news.

Speaking on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga who is the Director of Media and Communications of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) has alleged that the supporters of Obi have been disseminating fake news to the general public, damaging the reputation of the APC candidate.

Recall that a report had reportedly emerged online a few days ago, that the Ghanian President, Nana Akufo-Addo had also written a letter to Asiwaju, asking him to step down and support Peter Obi and take care of his health.

 

The President had via his official Twitter handle, debunked the report, calling it fake news, stating that it is a product of deliberate mischief with the intent to deceive the public Reacting, the TCO media Director asked Obi to disavow his supporters who are employing fake news against the former Lagos State Governor.

“We have come to a point where it becomes imperative to tell Obi to show leadership and disavow his supporters who are employing fake news and disinformation as deliberate tools to deceive and poison the minds of unsuspecting Nigerians,” Onanuga stated.

In another report, the Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), a support group for the former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party has accused leading 2023 presidential candidates of divisive utterances.

The group mentioned Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, flagbearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The POSN noted that the duo have been making pronouncements ‘polarising the country along ethnic and religious fault lines’.

The spokesman Sani Altukry wondered how they would unite Nigerians if they eventually win the election ‘after dividing them’.
