Dr. Dorathy Akalonu, a US-based medical personnel, has announced that her nongovernmental organisation (NGO), Maria Dorathy Foundation, aims to give free medical treatment to 800 people living in Imo State with various health challenges.
The Media Consultant and Adviser to the Foundation, Ms. Chinaza Nwoke, told newsmen that the foundation was established to restore hope to the disadvantaged.
In addition to visiting orphanages, providing essential materials to inmates at correctional facilities, and visiting poor widows, widowers and youths in the state, she said the foundation has reached out to a wide range of people.
The media adviser said that beginning on May 16, 2022, the Foundation would offer medical outreach by medical experts from a range of fields.
Besides empowering women and other vulnerable individuals in the state’s 27 local government areas, Nwoke stated that the foundation is also working on empowering vulnerable individuals.
To achieve its mission of providing life to thousands of indigent families in the state, however, she pleaded for financial assistance from spirited Nigerians.
She said: “Many Nigerians in orphanage homes need help, majority cannot afford medical bills for treatments of the diseases ravaging them. We have decided through the foundation to provide them medical assistance by bringing medical experts to treat them free of charge”.
