Former Vice-President of the People’s Democratic Party and candidate for the 2023 presidential elections, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday announced that he could emerge as the consensus candidate of every Nigerian and of the People’s Democratic Party.
Reporters asked Obi how he could build a better Nigeria and a secure future for the youth when he was presented with PDP Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at his Onitsha GRA residence.
The former Governor of Anambra State is hopeful that discussions between the aspirants will favour him because he is the best choice for Nigerians at this time.

“They didn’t say consensus is from a particular section; it might be consensus for Nigeria, and as we are going round, we shall be discussing everything. You never know I might be the consensus candidate. I agree we shall be talking to each other and in the end, we shall find out who is the best for the job,” the former governor said.
Mr. Obi said he has strong support across the board in all areas of Nigeria, noting that in this current process of selecting a new leadership for Nigeria, people should examine and question people’s pasts and discover what they exhibited during previous assignments/jobs, and is confident that his antecedents speak well for him.
After visiting various parts of the world to search for solutions for Nigeria, he said he possessed the capacity, exposure and knowledge to turn things around in the country positively.
On behalf of the Young Professionals, Mr. Daniel Wilbert, an Itsekiri from Warri, Delta State, presented the nomination forms to Obi earlier in the day. Wilbert said that the group considered many candidates but felt Mr. Obi was the most qualified to fill the office at this time.
Mr. Wilbert stated that the group, an umbrella body of all professionally registered working class Nigerians which includes medical doctors, engineers, entertainers, legal practitioners, media professionals, among others, reached the decision to back Obi’s bid based on his personal pedigree, experience in administration, handling economy, and a history of successful campaigning.
