Arewa: Igbo Business Mogul, Chief Ekeh Clarifies Stance

Listen to article

Chief Better Joseph Ekeh, a leading international businessman and an administrator of the Owerri-zone Socio-political group has reacted to the verbal onslaught being levelled against him by some detractors over his alleged alliance with the Arewa Northern group and the former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer for the 2019 Presidential elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He had quoted:

‘The recent video uploaded on our platform which identified me as the Spokesperson of Arewa group was done during the Atiku/Obi campaign in 2019, and I have no regrets over it because I did it for the interest of justice and good people of Ndi Igbo including Owerri Zone group however, it’s quite unfortunate that instead of my effort being appreciated, I have been labelled all sorts of names simply because I want the best for Ndi Igbo.’

In the video, Chief Better Joseph Ekeh had lauded Atiku Abubakar on the good work and positive political activities he was promoting among Nigerian citizens in Chatham, England. The video was clearly made to show support for Atiku and his Igbo counterpart, Peter Obi. Some individuals who misunderstood the motive behind the video were said to have called out Chief Better Joseph Ekeh for promoting relations with Northern politicians who have a strained relationship with Igbos. He has also been accused of being part of an Igbo sect who identify as bonafide members of the Arewa group.

Clearly, this is an attempt to malign and slander the efforts of an honest individual to ruin his integrity. Chief Better Joseph Ekeh has made it very clear that he was not obligated by any particular authority or group while making the video and the efforts the detractors were making to tie him to some made up affiliation were all a bid to smear his image.
