Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake Set To Headline Afro Nation 2026

Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake are set to headline the Afro Nation 2026 festival in Portugal.

The organisers shared the full lineup on X, showcasing a mix of leading Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall, and amapiano stars.

The organizers wrote, alongside the line-up poster, “PHASE 3 IS HERE. Legacy energy meets Afro Nation

debuts. This is the sound of a summer taking shape.”

The three-day festival will take place from July 3 to July 5, 2026, at Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal. Burna Boy will kick off the event on July 3, performing alongside South African star Tyla, followed by Asake on July 4, with Wizkid closing the festival on July 5.

The 2026 edition will also feature American R&B singer Kehlani and rapper Gunna as special guests. Other Nigerian artistes on the bill include Olamide, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Wande Coal, and Mavo.

Early Access tickets will go on sale on February 5.

Afro Nation is a premier annual festival celebrating African music and culture, and the 2026 edition is expected to be bigger than ever.

Last year, the organizers featured top Nigerian stars including Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, and Qing Madi.

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, have announced plans to move from Television live broadcast to YouTube stream.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences informed the public about the new development on Wednesday.

Leaders of the Academy in a statement noted that the YouTube streaming will commence with its 101st edition ceremony in 2029 till 2033.

It explained that the development is to reach new and broader audiences across the globe following the historical transitioning shift from traditional television broadcast to digital platforms due to the wider trends in media consumption.

The Academy CEO, Bill Kramer, and its President, Lynette Howell Taylor said “We are thrilled to enter a multifaceted global partnership with YouTube to be the future home of the Oscars and our year-round Academy programming.”

According to the statement, the ceremony will be broadcast live and free on YouTube, ending over five decades of television coverage on ABC.

Music powerhouse Beyonce, tennis legend Venus Williams and Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala on May 4 alongside Vogue’s Anna Wintour, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Wednesday in New York.
