President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will overcome its current economic challenges.

The President made the statement on Wednesday in Abuja at the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE Conference.

According to him, poverty would not define Nigeria’s future.

“We may be poor; poverty is not going to be our milestone. We are going to come out of it,” he said.

Tinubu further stated that, although the reforms his administration had undertaken were challenging, they were designed to place Nigeria’s economy on a strong and enduring footing.

He maintained that every stakeholder, especially the media, has a role to play in improving the country.

In other senate, Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, says the bid to create Anioma State has recorded major progress, with support from President Bola Tinubu and key constitutional amendment committees at the National Assembly.

Nwoko disclosed this at the Izu Anioma Towns Union event in Abuja during the unveiling of the maiden Anioma cultural festival. He said the momentum behind the proposal is stronger than at any point in Nigeria’s recent political history.

According to him, 97 senators had previously signed a document endorsing the state creation push, describing the scale of support as unprecedented. He explained that the bill currently before the National Assembly seeks to establish Anioma State from the nine local government areas in Delta North, spanning Aniocha, Oshimili, Ika and Ndokwa zones.

He added that neighbouring communities such as Igbanke have also expressed interest in joining the proposed state.
