Genocide: Trump Lied To The World About Nigeria – Falanala

Listen to article

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has said that President Donald Trump of the United States lied to the whole world by alleging Christian genocide in Nigeria without any evidence to support his claim.

Falana made this statement on Wednesday when he appeared as a guest on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by The Easter Updates.

His comment follows Trump’s declaration of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over allegations of Christian genocide in the country.

The US President also threatened that he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.

Reacting, Falana said, “Mr Trump doesn’t regard us as anything at all; Nigeria and South Africa. For him, we are either a sh*thole country or a disgraceful country.
“I’m going to look at this from a human rights perspective. I’m not a diplomat. My position is that Mr Trump has lied to the whole world by alleging Christian genocide in Nigeria without any evidence to back it up.”

There was a mild drama on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, as the President of the Red Chamber, Senator Godswill Akpabio and his Deputy, Senator Jibrin Barau differed on American President Donald Trump’s threat of military action against terrorists in Nigeria over alleged Christian genocide in some parts of the country.

Akpabio, who was making reference to a report by a social media platform, RANT HQ, alleging that he rebuffed Trump on Nigeria’s classification as a Country of Particular Concern, CPC, at the end of plenary, said he never attacked the American President, and that he could only convey the collective resolution of the Senate on the matter.

The platform had quoted the Senate President as saying, “The killing is taking place in Nigeria not in the USA, Trump should focus on US. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings, we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria.”
