Governor Namadi Of Jigawa Announces Reshuffling Of Cabinet

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has approved a minor reshuffling of his cabinet.

The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Umar Namadi.

He said that after deliberations, the Secretary to the State Government announced the minor cabinet reshuffling in the State Executive Council. The Commissioner for Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, Muhammed Alhassan, is to move to the Ministry of Water Resources, while the Commissioner for Water Resources, Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa, will be moved to the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development. The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ahmed Garba, was posted to the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning.

Sagir added that the cabinet reshuffling takes immediate effect from today, 5th May 2025, and the affected officials are expected to report to their new offices no later than 19th May 2025.

Addressing the appointees, Governor Namadi emphasized the critical role these permanent secretaries will play in steering their respective ministries towards achieving the administration’s goals. In the same vein, he highlighted the appointment of a special adviser to coordinate chieftaincy affairs, stressing the importance of this role in maintaining security and cultural heritage during challenging times.

“Today, we are making another milestone in our journey towards a greater Jigawa. We’ve sworn in permanent secretaries to take charge of various ministries in our state. We have also sworn in a special adviser who will coordinate the affairs of our chieftaincy,” he said.

“These groups are very critical and important to the success of this administration because, as the advisor on chieftaincy affairs, while congratulating you on this assignment, I want to urge you that this task is challenging because we are in a challenging period, a challenging period where the royal fathers play an important role in the period of insecurity and the degradation of our culture.”
