Gunmen Kill Two In Cold-Blooded Attack In Abeokuta

On Monday morning, three gunmen launched a deadly attack in Abeokuta, Ogun State, killing two people and leaving two others nursing gunshot wounds, in what authorities are investigating as a targeted assault.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the details of the attack, issuing a statement that confirmed the deaths and injuries.

Omolola Odutola provided details, stating that the tragic incident unfolded at about 12:30 a.m. in the parking area of Diamond Dumplings, located in the GRA of Abeokuta.

“Three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys,” she stated

“The assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown) and one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin and two others.

“The Divisional Police Officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived the scene and ensured the area was secure before transporting the victims to the hospital.

“Upon their arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while the other two individuals are receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta,” she said.

The police spokesperson alluded to the start of a preliminary probe, aimed at examining the causes behind the deaths and assessing whether cult groups might be involved.

“The public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days, as a follow up to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
