Bako Bala, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State’s Suru Local Government Area, was kidnapped and murdered by suspected gunmen on Wednesday.
A statement from Zaidu Bala, the Special Adviser to the Kebbi State governor for Television and Radio, shared on Facebook, indicated that armed men abducted him in his hometown, shot him, and left him bleeding on the ground.
Bala noted that the APC Suru Local Government chairman was urgently transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi; however, he tragically died on Wednesday at the hospital from his gunshot wounds.
In a related development, reports indicate that bandits raided Matseri village within the Bunza Local Government Area and abducted a resident.

A source from the village informed the press that a young man, who is now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
Meanwhile, all efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nafiu Abubakar, were abortive as he neither picked up his calls nor responded to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
Kebbi State is one of the North West states in the country currently facing insecurity especially that of banditry.
