Tragedy struck in Osumenyi, Nnewi South LGA, when Mazi Emeka Akubuo, a coordinator for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was fatally shot by the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG). IPOB has expressed outrage over the killing, calling for a thorough investigation and justice for their slain leader.
The IPOB Directorate of State has issued a strong condemnation of the murder, labeling it “dastardly” in a statement released by Comrade Emma Powerful, its Media and Publicity Secretary. The group has vowed to seek justice for the slain coordinator.
“The late Mazi Emeka Akubuo was murdered in cold blood by a soulless and notorious Anambra Ebube Agu group called AVG. What was his crime? His only crime is being a member of a non-violent freedom movement fighting for the freedom of Biafrans.”
The IPOB has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to take immediate action to identify and prosecute those responsible for the killing, warning that the group will be forced to take matters into its own hands if the government fails to act.

The IPOB reiterated that its members are unarmed and peaceful, and that their struggle is focused on achieving freedom and self-determination for the Biafran people through non-violent means.
“We cannot be working to set our people free while some people are killing their saviours to please our collective enemies. Biafrans must hold this Igbo saying dear at this critical time, Igwe bu ike,” Comrade Emma Powerful said.
