Umuahia played host to an important diplomatic engagement as Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, paid a courtesy call on Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, at the Police Command headquarters.
The British High Commissioner’s visit to Abia State is part of a broader effort to fortify bilateral ties between the UK and Nigeria, with a focus on grassroots engagement and state-level cooperation.
Upon arrival at the Abia State Police Command, the British High Commissioner, Richard Montgomery, was warmly received by Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and his management team, who were joined by a delegation of officials from the British Commission.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that the discussions between the British High Commissioner and the Abia State Police Command centered on critical security concerns, with both parties exploring ways to leverage their combined expertise and resources.
In a precursor to his meeting with the police leadership, the British High Commissioner, Richard Montgomery, met with Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, at his Umuihim Nvosi residence, where they explored avenues for cooperation and collaboration.
