With conviction, Kalu declared that the Labour Party’s reign in the state, led by Governor Alex Otti, is destined for termination in 2027, signaling a seismic shift in the political landscape.
Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has reemphasized his commitment to ousting Governor Alex Otti, stating that he has repeatedly informed the Governor, both in private conversations and public statements, that the APC is poised to capture Abia State in the 2027 elections.
A viral video from Monday features Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, stating that the people of Abia State owe a deep sense of appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC for the appointments they have received, a claim that has ignited a flurry of reactions.
Kalu posited that Abia’s growth and progress are contingent upon its alignment with the federal government, stressing that Governor Otti recognizes his debt to President Tinubu and the APC, which he must settle by delivering the state to the party in 2027.

Kalu said, ‘This will be the last time that a Labour governor will govern Abia state. I say without mincing word. The next governor of our state will be APC governor. Yeah, I say without mincing word. We are friends, yes.
‘We work together, yes. But I will not be number 6 citizens of the country and another party will govern my state. The next election in 2027, APC governor will be there. I have told him in person. I have told him publicly and privately that APC governor will be the next governor of our state.
‘How it will happen, I don’t know, but it will happen. I am confident. I am confident because we are working hard. I am confident because my government is working hard. The President is working hard.
‘And Abia will repay the president. Abia will repay the President. The President that has given you South East Development Commission will be repaired. The President that is appointing Abians into administration will be repaired.
‘The President that is allowing the attraction of dividend of democracy to Abia state will be repaired. We are not ungrateful people. Moneky will not work and baboon will chop. APC will not help the state to be strong and then Labour will take the credits.
‘And no, no, no, no, no. APC will determine who will become the next governor of Abia state. I don’t care about who the person is, but one thing I know is that the party, the platform, the APC, will be the next governor of Abia state.
‘Go and write it somewhere. That we are ready to work for Abia state. And we are tired of being outside government at the centre. We need to leverage the power of the centre to increase the development of our state.’
Kalu further explained that Governor Otti has been performing very well for the state since he took over.
‘The governor is my friend and he is doing well. In comparison, we are speaking from other governments. He is not doing bad. I will give it to him. I am proud of him.
‘He is my friend. But the issue remains we have to push for our party to take over the state. I mean, I owe Mr. President that and I owe my party that gave me number six position that . And I am sure the governor knows that I owe my party that. And I am sure the governor will do the right thing at the right time,’ he added.
