Fayose To Tinubu: Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Will Fetch You Votes

Listen to article

Isaac Fayose, the younger sibling of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, is urging President Bola Tinubu to take a page out of Goodluck Jonathan’s playbook and extend an olive branch to Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Fayose suggests offering Kanu contracts, similar to those given to Niger Delta militant leader Tompolo, as a gesture of goodwill.

According to Isaac Fayose, releasing Nnamdi Kanu would be a shrewd political move for President Bola Tinubu, potentially garnering him significant support from the Southeast region in the 2027 elections.

On his Instagram page, Fayose made a compelling case for Kanu’s release, stating that it would lead to a noticeable decrease in the region’s security challenges.

According to him: “Releasing Nnamdi Kanu will reduce crime in the South-East by 50%. And APC will get more votes in 2027.

“If President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan can give a contract to Tompolo to have peace in the Niger Delta, why can’t we do the same in the South-East?”

“If we are spending so much money on security in the Southeast, the money will be reduced by 50% releasing Kanu,” Fayose advised.

He added that, “If I were president Tinubu, after the election, when I noticed that the Southeast people didn’t vote for me, I would have released Kanu to counter them; releasing Kanu can make some of them say, ‘oh this man has a good intention’”.

As the clamor for Kanu’s release gains momentum, with Peter Obi and numerous Nigerians joining the fray, Fayose lends his voice to the movement, entreating President Tinubu to heed the call and grant the IPOB leader his freedom.
