Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has announced a bold vision for Enugu state’s infrastructure development with the construction of a mega twin flyover.
This flagship project is designed to be a showpiece, outperforming all existing flyovers in the South East with its futuristic design and functionality, and positioning Enugu state as a prime destination for trade and investment.
On Tuesday, Minister Umahi toured the Enugu construction site, highlighting the project’s multifaceted benefits. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the twin flyover is designed to enhance safety, reduce accidents, and bolster security, ultimately driving economic progress by increasing access to key facilities like airports in the region.
The Minister underscored the significance of the Emene mega twin flyover bridge, comprising 23 spans, in transforming the region’s transportation ecosystem. By boosting mobility and connectivity, this iconic project aligns with the government’s commitment to fostering a more connected, vibrant, and economically thriving Enugu State.
The Minister highlighted the President’s unwavering dedication to supercharging the economy through bold road infrastructure investments. With a resolute spirit, the administration is primed to turn this vision into a resounding success story.
Orji Uchenna Orji, the Minister’s media adviser, announced in a statement that Umahi had conducted an on-site assessment of various Federal Government projects in Lagos State, including the high-profile Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway development.
Umahi, during the visit, announced the decision of the Federal Government to reduce the entire corridor of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, from phase two, section two of the coastal route to effective pavement of 55km including the train tracks.

According to the statement, “the Minister upon arriving Enugu State, visited the ongoing reconstruction of the collapsed New Artisan bridge at Enugu-PH Expressway, Enugu capital city.
“This flyover bridge is described as the best thing that never happened to the people of Enugu and neighbouring States untill the coming on board of the Renewed Hope administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who saw the need to decongest the traffic ridden axis of Enugu city to give way to stronger socio-economic competitiveness within the region”.
It would be recalled that the road which links to many suburbs within the State and the neighbouring States has for many years been a nightmare for vehicles, some of which ply the route through Benue State to far parts of Northern Nigeria and some others to parts of South South through Cross River State.
