With a sense of fulfillment, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, Vice Chancellor of Unizik, disclosed that the university’s staff have become the preferred choice for those seeking top-notch services, not just in Anambra State but also in other parts of the country.

Delivering his address at the university’s 18th Convocation ceremony, Professor Esimone revealed that Unizik’s talented staff have been headhunted for top-tier roles in Anambra State’s government and prestigious universities nationwide.

A total of 7,829 graduates received their hard-earned certificates at the Convocation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey, with degrees spanning first and higher qualifications for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Under Professor Esimone’s visionary leadership, Unizik has catapulted to the forefront of academic distinction, surging upward in global and national university rankings, solidifying its reputation as a bastion of intellectual excellence.

He said that in the ranking for universities not more than 50 years of establishment Unizik is placed 501in global ranking and 5th in Nigeria; is ranked 31 in Sub-saharan and 4th in Nigeria.

In world ranking it rose from 1501+ in the world and 8th in Nigeria, upfront 10th in 2023.

Because of its advancement Unizik has attracted the Higher Education partnership in Sub-saharan Africa 2022/24 Grant of one Hundred British Pounds and other many other assistance it has attracted.

In the area of infrastructure, Esimone said he attracted an estimated N60billion during his tenure.

Tge Convocation ceremony was attended by a lot of who is who in the country front all walks of life.

They include Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo who was represented by his wife Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor of Anambra State Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Senator Victor Umeh, His Excellency Rabiu Kwakwanso, AlhajiMonye Soludo, Babagana Kingibe, Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives Kalu, Deputy governors of Abia, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa among several others.

In his address, the Chancellor of the university and the chairman Plateau Council of Chiefs Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Gbong Gwom Jos praised Esimone on his achievements and urged the staff of the university to cooperate with his successor.
