IPOB Lawyer, Ejiofor Condemns Soldiers’ Killing In Abia

Listen to article

Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor who is the lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has described last Thursday’s killing of five soldiers by enforcers of the sit-at-home order in Abia State as a heinous crime.

While condemning the killing in a statement on Saturday in Owerri, Ejiofor explained that IPOB had no hand in the incident, stressing that it was the handwork of criminals.

I roundly condemn in unmistaken terms, the unprovoked attack on military personnel at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia State on the 30th day of May 2024.

“While we pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in this dastardly act, carefully perpetuated by the real enemies of Biafra and Biafrans, I urge for all hands to be on deck to ensure that those responsible for this heinous attack are fished out.”

He said it is unreasonable to attribute the act to IPOB, stressing that the group had maintained its peaceful stance in the quest for a Biafra nation, and have at all times distanced itself from the activities of criminals claiming to be freedom fighters.

“Whatever evil motive behind the actions of the evil souls that perpetuated this evil act, has no justification under any circumstance and stands totally condemned. The long arms of the law must surely catch up with those responsible for this heinous crime!,” he added.

Meanwhile, IPOB has reassured the release of its leader Nnamdi Kanu will end insecurity in the South East calling on the Federal Government to follow the counsel of reason.

The Eastern Updates reports that this statement is coming barely few days after Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, visited Kanu in solitary confinement.

IPOB clarified on Saturday in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, that Kanu is not involved in criminal activities and did not order the killing of soldiers.
