Otti Offers Scholarships To Children Of Slain Soldiers

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has paid a condolence visit to the wives of the five soldiers who were killed by gunmen in Obikabia, Obingwa Local Government Area, on Thursday.

The names of the deceased military officers were given as Sgt.Chalse Ugochkwu, Sgt Bala Abrabam, CPl Ugwu Gideon, LCPL Ikpeama Ikechukwu, LCPL Augustine Emanuel.

Governor Otti met with the young widows of the soldiers who died in active service at 144 Battalion Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area on Saturday.

He was received on arrival by the Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, Nigeria Army, Brigadier General O. O. Diya.

Speaking during the condolence visit which had the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, and Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the governor assured families and wives of the deceased that the killers will be fished out to face the law.

Governor Otti says the state government will provide scholarships up to the university level for all the children of the Nigerian Army personnel killed.

Earlier, the Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, Nigeria Army, Brigadier General O. O. Diya said the military in collaboration with other security agencies will continue to work together to bring perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has ordered the security agents to go after the miscreants who were behind the killing of five soldiers in Aba, Abia State and those behind the call for sit-at-home in Southeast.

President Tinubu stated that under no circumstances should anyone have the audacity to kill state agents, in any form or fashion.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed on Sunday morning.

The Eastern Updates reports that the President, who was reacting to the murder of five soldiers in Aba on Thursday, May 30, by elements suspected to be members of Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, warned that the federal government will come down heavily against those who have made it a habit to needlessly attack the officers and men of our armed forces.
