Police Apprehend Two Suspected Drug Dealers In Imo

The Police Command in Imo State has apprehended no fewer than two suspected drug dealers whose names have been given as Kelechi Ekeopra and John Aburodo, from whom were recovered large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp in the suspect’s criminal hideout.

The arrests were made when the command’s anti-narcotics unit raided some shanties and flash points in Ihiagwa, Owerri West Local Government Area on April 18, 2024.

A statement issued on yesterday by Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson in the state which was made available to The Eastern Updates read: “The Command will continue to clamp down on hard drug dealers and peddlers in Imo State.

“The suspects, Kelechi Ekeopra, and John Aburodo, are currently cooling their heels in police custody where a thorough investigation has been initiated to apprehend other suspects in the distribution chain.

“They will be arraigned in court upon completion of the ongoing investigation.”

In another report, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has confirmed the death of a woman in an accident at Okpoko Market on the Asaba-Onitsha Road.

Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi who is the Sector Commander in the State, while confirming the accident to journalists in Awka on Friday, said the woman was hit while she was crossing the road.

He said that the accident, which occurred on Wednesday, involved a commercial tow truck with registration number XA550BMA.

Eyewitness reports reaching us indicate that the truck was towing a vehicle at an uncontrollable speed along the axis.

“The vehicle that was being towed got detached from the tow truck.

“It hit and killed a female adult, who was said to be crossing the road while the tow truck continued its movement.

“FRSC rescue team came to the scene and took the woman to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, where she was confirmed dead and her body deposited at the hospital’s mortuary,” he said.

While sympathising with the family of the dead, the sector commander urged motorists, especially tow truck drivers, to exercise a high level of professionalism.
