The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has hailed President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s vision of providing affordable housing for Nigerians and his decision to source housing project contractors locally.
He offered the kudos when he received in the state, a delegation of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), led by its Managing Director, Oyetunde Ojo who visited him, on Tuesday.
He noted that the Abia government’s housing policy is in alignment with the federal government’s vision of providing affordable housing to Nigerians.
Otti said that his administration would show sufficient interest in the proposed federal housing project in Abia, stressing the importance of shelter to man.
He disclosed that his administration had already identified a location as it had been working on the idea of a diaspora village in the state, which is also one of the propositions of the Federal Government’s housing programme.

“Please give our regards to Mr President and reassure him that where housing is on his vision is also where housing is on our vision here. So, we’re aligned”, the Governor said.
Earlier in his speech, the Managing Director of FHA, Oyetunde Ojo said that President Bola Tinubu identified that there was insufficient housing for the citizens and is determined to provide affordable housing.
The MD said his team was in Abia to inform the Governor of the federal government’s plans to acquire lands to build affordable houses for Abia people.
Meanwhile, Tinubu has showered praises on leaders of the Southeast for their efforts at peace-building and strengthening of democratic governance in the zone.
Tinubu said their action was good for the polity.
He spoke during the burial of Deaconess Theresa Omoke, mother of his Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (South East), Chioma Nweze, in Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State yesterday.
The Eastern Updates reports that President, who was represented by Works Minister Dave Umahi, described the deceased as a woman with exemplary virtues, enjoined Mrs Nweze and the entire Omoke family to take solace in the accomplishments of their mother.
