Rivers State is projected to emerge as the frontrunner in the upcoming Ohaneze Ndigbo Presidential General elections, with expectations soaring high for a new leader to be elected within the next nine months.
Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, clarified in a press release provided to newsmenm today that, according to the 2024 Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution, it has been mandated that Rivers State will rightfully yield the President General in January 2025.
He stated that, ‘The Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, stands firm in unyielding fidelity to the constitutional tenets. Talks and consultations reverberate across the seven Igbo-speaking states in preparation for the impending elections. The fervor among Ndigbo is palpable as the prospect of a Rivers State leader at the helm stirs anticipation and emotion’.
‘The emergence of a new President General hailing from Rivers State in 2025 holds profound significance, promising to shatter misconceptions and usher in cultural renaissance. The ripples of this historic event will redefine societal values and empower the Ikwerre,Etche, Ndoni, Opopo and other Igbo indigenous of Rivers youths to embrace their true heritage with unwavering pride. Much like the legacy of Late Ambassador Ralp Uwechue, whose leadership reignited pride within the Anioma people, the path ahead holds the promise of unity and progress for all’.
