A 200-level student who’s name has been given as Ogboji David Chukwuebuka, has died after he slumped on the campus of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State.
The Eastern Updates gathered that there was a football competition in the school organized by the Directorate of Sports of Student Union Government (SUG), of the school when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The undergraduate student of the Department of Economics in the institution, was among those selected by his faculty to play against the Faculty of Biological Science during the freshers’ league tournament of the university.

Ogboji, popularly known as Bernardo, reportedly slumped on the pitch during the competition and was rushed to the clinic in the university after which he was taken to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.
This was contained in a statement signed by the SUG Director of Sports in the school, Nwankwo Polycarp Chigozie.
He said “It is with a heavy heart that we bring you the news of the passing of one of our students. Ogboji David Chukwuebuka, a 200-level student from the Economics Department, he collapsed while playing for his faculty in the freshers’ league tournament on the school field.
“Despite being rushed to the clinic and then referred to the hospital, he was confirmed dead upon arrival. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and fellow students during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.”
In another report, the government of Enugu State has announced plans to partner with rural communities in the state on the provision of clean water.
Briefing journalists at her Enugu office, Chika Mbah, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), revealed that the partnership would be community-led despite being government-driven and financed.
