Shettima To Inaugurate Light Up S’East Initiative On Monday

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to inaugurate the Light up South East Initiative on Monday, February 26, aimed at expediting electricity provision to industrial hubs in the area.

This information was revealed in a statement released on Friday, February 23, by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President.

Set to be held in Enugu, the administrative center of Enugu State, the event signifies a continuation of the concerted endeavors to bolster energy supply to key industrial areas across Nigeria.

The project, a collaboration between the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) and its partners, will feature key stakeholders in the nation’s power sector.

A key highlight of the Vice President’s engagement in Enugu on Monday will be the South East Business Roundtable featuring top government officials and business leaders deliberating on delivering reliable and sustainable power to industrial and residential areas in the region.

The vice president had on October 12, 2023, flagged off the initiative in the southwest at the Agbara Industrial Cluster, with stakeholders committing to the successful implementation of the project across the country.

Since its inception, the Tinubu administration has been unwavering in its dedication to revitalizing Nigeria’s infrastructure framework, with a strong focus on empowering Nigerians and strengthening the nation’s economic policies.

In another development, the Vice President will commission the 181-megawatt Geometric Power plant located at the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State, concurrently with the aforementioned event.
