A statement issued by the management of Geometric, which was obtained by our correspondent couldn’t state the reason(s) for the change of date after the state government had announced the cancellation of the state’s monthly sanitation which coincided with President Tinubu’s planned visit.

The statement read: ‘We wish to notify you that the Presidency has shifted the commissioning date for the Aba Integrated Power Project (Aba IPP) from Saturday, February 24, 2024, to Monday, Feb 26, 2024.’

‘We hope that your schedule will accommodate this change and we apologize for any inconvenience this date change may cause you. We would be most delighted to see you at the event on Monday.’

Information gathered indicates that the Independent Power Company had been prepared for power generation and distribution across the nine local government areas since August 2023. However, the commencement was postponed until this year due to the absence of gas supply to the plant.
