The Senator representing Abia South in the red chamber of the National Assembly, Enyinnaya Abaribe has called on Ndigbo to remain resolute in whatever they do, stressing that is what Igbos are known for.
Speaking as the chairman of 2023 Aka Ikenga Awards and Christmas Party in Lagos on Sunday, the fiery senator said it was unfortunate that Igbos are at the receiving end of suppressions in Nigeria, saying such won’t move Nigeria forward.
He said: ‘I am telling Nigeria. Let Nigeria not think by suppressing the Igbos, they are moving forward.
‘It is a lie. As long as Nigeria suppresses the Igbo, the country will not move forward because one who holds someone down holds himself.
‘You cannot hold Igbos down and expect the country to move forward, that won’t happen,’ he said.

The former deputy governor of Abia State reminded Ndigbo that they should remain focused because the region is not known to be afraid of anything.
He said the demolitions of property of Igbos in Lagos should not make the Igbos to be cowed, saying even when some people alleged that Igbos made mistake in the last election by supporting one of their own was a ploy to undermine Ndigbo.
Rather Abaribe noted that Igbos are people of resilience and won’t make mistakes, noting that supporting one their own in the last election was a statement that they are capable of not only ruling the country but effect changes in the country.
‘Ndi Igbo, please know that we are resilient, focused and principled. We don’t fear. In the midst of demolitions in some parts of the country, we are not going to be cowed.
‘Anything we do we follow it to the end. Don’t mind those who said we made mistakes in trying to run for Nigerian presidency in the last election. We didn’t make mistakes but showed that we are capable of ruling Nigeria,’ he said.
