Shorunmu Opens Up On Abia Warriors’ Target For Next Season

Ike Shorunmu who is goalkeeper’s coach at Abia Warriors, has revealed that the major aim of the team is to finish in a reputable position in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The former Super Eagles shot-stopper said the team will continue to improve on their performance as the season progresses.

Shorunmu, however, refused to set a target for the team.

‘I don’t need to make any promises, as we need to play week in, week out to be better,” Shorunmu told newsmen in Jos. At the end of the day, Abia Warriors want to be in a good position at the end of the season,’ he said.

Abia Warriors have recorded four wins and four defeats in eight games this season.

The Ochendo Boys currently occupy the seventh position on the table with 12 points.

Abia Warriors will lock horns with Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Sunday.

In another report, Finidi George who is the head coach of Enyimba has revealed that his team’s mission ahead of Saturday’s Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Kano Pillars.

The two teams, who are former champions of the NPFL, will clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium in what is the biggest game in the NPFL this weekend.

The Eastern Updates reports that matches between both teams have generated huge followership in the past and this will certainly not be an exception.

Kano Pillars have won all three home games this season and will be counting on the vociferous home fans to be the 12th man on the field for them.
