Imo Guber: Ihedioha Is Working For Uzodinma – PDP Chieftain

Listen to article

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has come out to claim that former governor of the state, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, is working for the reelection of Governor Hope Uzodinma ahead of next month’s election in the state.

The Eastern Updates recalls that the Supreme Court had on 14th of January, 2020, nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as the governor of Imo State, and declared Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the state.

Surprisingly, the immediate past governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, and his associates shunned the campaign flag-off of the PDP governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, last Wednesday, which took place at the Kanu Nwankwo Stadium in Owerri, which was also attended by PDP members from the 27 local government areas of the state.

According to the PDP chieftain who spoke to The Eastern Updates on the condition of anonymity, Ihedioha was said to have thought that the gubernatorial ticket would be given to him, especially as his administration was truncated by the apex court ruling in 2020.

The party chieftain told Daily Independent that Ihedioha was seen with Hope Uzodimma, saying, ‘They want to cut their noses to spite their faces. When you cut your nose, you will become a monster, nobody will want to look at your face.

‘He (Ihedioha) met with Uzodimma in London with some other people. We know the people that were there.’

Ekwunife and some others were at that meeting in London. That tells you the kind of person that he is. ‘He is fighting now because he wants to be the National Secretary of the party. They’re playing the game against him and pushing that secretary position to Enugu State.

“They have a candidate and they have chosen not to support him, it is their business. I hope all of us are enjoying the suffering in the country today. People will say that they don’t like what is happening and they will do nothing. “The same thing will happen in Imo State.’

Many of them won’t be able to go back home if the man (Uzodimma) takes over the second term. People forget that all these positions that they hold have expiration dates, if you know that, there are certain things you won’t do.

“Tinubu came and said that he will give loans to students. How many students are benefiting from it? Nobody is talking about it. Yesterday, a dollar exchanged for N1,155.00.

This is the same government that says it has no money, went to New York and paid N390 million for hotel accommodation alone and nobody is talking.

‘In Imo State, the worst that will happen is that the candidate of the party will lose.

Will anybody kill the man? People should know that their actions have consequences. “During our rally when the people were coming from different areas for the campaign, they stopped them.

They ordered the police to stop them at checkpoints. People came down and started walking to the venue of the campaign. It’s a challenge, and in spite of that people still came.

“Ihedioha was banking on Atiku winning, believing that if he (Atiku) wins it will be an automatic ticket for him. When it didn’t happen he wrote a letter of withdrawal. He withdrew from the race, he didn’t compete. He knew that he would lose if he had contested.

The other man had a lot of delegates that he had taken care of. “So because somebody felt it was his entitlement by birth and he didn’t get it, and so he wants to destroy everything,” the source added.
