In an unexpected revelation, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State on Monday announced that he has not accepted a salary since he took office on the 29th of May this year.
Dr. Otti disclosed this at a press briefing held at the Abia State capital, Umuahia, where he also shed light on his decision.
According to him, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly recently reminded him that he had not received a salary for the past four months.
During the conference, Governor Otti explained his rationale for forgoing his salary.
He said; “The speaker reminded me that I have not taken salary for 4 months, and I will not take for 4 years. I have only one wife and 3 children, and we can take care of ourselves.”
