Eight Security Personnel Slain By Unknown Gunmen In Imo

Unknown gunmen reportedly executed a deadly attack on Monday, In Imo State, which claimed the lives of at least eight security agents, including soldiers, police officers, and personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The incident, which took place in Umualumaku community within the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state, has disrupted the entire community, causing confusion and a clear sense of apprehension.

The attackers targeted and set fire to the joint security task force team, who were travelling in two security trucks, during an ambush.

A witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, informed reporters that additional teams had been dispatched to the crime scene to apprehend the suspects and recover the bodies of the security personnel who lost their lives.

The witness, a local resident, made it clear that he had visual contact with the security agents just minutes before they were set on fire.

He mentioned that the community had emptied out, with residents fleeing because of the ominous situation that had unfolded.

A video clip depicting the attack, wherein the security agents were set ablaze within the two vehicles, has surfaced.

Upon being contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, verified the incident’s happening but expressed the need for additional time to acquire a complete understanding of the situation.
