Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has paid a visit to console the family of Maduka Zachery, a notable figure within the Labour Party. Zachery tragically lost his life during an attack by unknown assistants who beheaded him.
The visit took place in Umuchioke-Ezieke, Akpukpa, Uturu, part of Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
While at the family’s residence for the visit, Governor Otti conveyed his profound sadness regarding the tragic incident and offered words of comfort to the bereaved family.
Describing the late individual as a devoted party member, Governor Otti said that the loss extends beyond the immediate family to impact both the party and the entire state.
He asserted his commitment to ensuring that those behind the killing of the deceased would face the full force of the law.

He went on to instruct the heads of security agencies within the State to uncover and bring the culprits to justice.
Otti acknowledged the difficulty of coping with such a tragic loss but regretted the irreversible nature of the situation. He offered heartfelt prayers for God to provide comfort to the immediate family, the Labour Party community, and the entire state.
Upon arrival, the governor, who signed the condolence register, was accompanied during the visit by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, as well as his Justice counterpart, Barrister Ikechukwu Uwanna.
Also in attendance were Eze Nelson Nmerengwa, the Second Deputy Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, and several other high-ranking government officials.
The Eastern Update reported that the perpetrators of the murder and beheading of the Labour Party chieftain remain unidentified, and their motives for the act remain unclear. It’s worth noting that some have speculated about political undertones surrounding his death.
