The National Leader and Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in the last elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has boasted that his party would win the Imo State governorship election, billed to hold on the 11th of November.

Kwankwaso made this on Monday when the governorship candidate of NNPP, Uche Ben Odunzeh and his deputy, Godstime Chukwubikem Samuel, briefed him on the progress made so far in their quest to win the contest, in Abuja.

Kwankwaso had come 4th in the Presidential election which had President Bola Tinubu declared as the eventual winner by the electoral umpire.

The former Kano State governor praised his campaign strategy and energy exuded by Odunzeh in order to trounce the All Progressives Congress APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He charged Odunzeh to be resolute, focused and to ensure that he does not jeopardize the trust of his people when elected as governor.

The former NNPP presidential candidate said he was convinced that Odunzeh would surpass the expectations of naysayers if elected.

The former lawmaker charged Odunzeh to work with the leadership of NNPP, adding that all should reunite to ensure a resounding victory for the party.

On his part, Odunzeh said he would take the counsel of Kwankwaso to heart and added that the admonition was a morale booster for his campaign team.

In another report, Nuhu Ribadu who is the National Security Adviser (NSA) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, met with Governors from the five South-East states in Abuja on Monday.

While journalists were not informed of the agenda of the closed-door session, it is possible that it is related to the escalating security issues in Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi states.

The Eastern Updates recalls that last Wednesday, the Senate condemned the Monday sit-at-home in the South East geopolitical zone and asked the Federal Government to collaborate with the Finnish Government and extradite a pro-Biafran agitator, Simon Ekpa, for prosecution.

The upper chamber resolved to invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs (when appointed) and relevant stakeholders to carry out a thorough investigation as well as bring other sponsors of the act to book.
