Man Electrocuted While Vandalizing Transformer In Imo

The lifeless body of an unknown man was discovered close to a transformer of Government Secondary School in Owerri, Imo state, on Thursday night.

Newsmen in Owerri were informed by an eyewitness on Saturday that the charred body of the victim was located inside the transformer structure.

He was suspected of attempting to steal cables and vandalize the transformer when, unfortunately, his luck went sour. The moment the power came on, he got electrocuted, as narrated by the eyewitness.

As at press time, the school Principal, Mr Chukwujindu Anyikwa, said he has reported the incident to relevant authorities which include but were not limited ‘To the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) in the state, and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) who later visited the scene of the incident.’ for necessary actions to be taken on the matter, especially as regards to the lifeless body of the suspect.

Gathered details indicate that the school’s alumni association donated the transformer to the school.
