Residents of Okpoko, Obosi, Atani, Oba, and their environs can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Ogbaru Division of the Anambra State Police Command successfully smashed a notorious armed robbery gang that had been terrorising them for several months.

Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), acknowledged the vital role played by the community vigilante groups in the area, stating that the successful accomplishment was a result of their cooperation with the police.

The individual identified as Jekwu, the gang’s leader, was previously apprehended on July 11, 2023, as verified by his statement

As part of the interrogation process, Jekwu shared valuable leads that led to the initiation of surveillance on the remaining gang members. This ultimately led to the arrest of another member while trying to evacuate the gang’s arms from Jekwu’s hideout.
