A suspected member of the proscribed IPOB was neutralized by the Ebonyi Police Command for purportedly attempting to enforce a sit-at-home order within the state.
SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi Police Command, released a statement in Abakiliki, that provided this information which was later made accessible to newsmen on Tuesday.
‘On receiving the information, the operatives of the command immediately swung into action by giving the hoodlums a hot chase.’
‘The hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel, which resulted in one of them being neutralised, while the others escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds,’ Onovwakpoyeya said.
SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi Police Command, explained that during the operation, the operatives were able to retrieve various items as evidence, which included a blue Highlander jeep that bore multiple bullet holes.

In addition, she mentioned that the operatives also recovered several other items as exhibits, including one pump-action gun, five cartridges, four cellphones, one Sumec Firman generator, and various charms.
She further stated that the recovery also involved various types of provisions that had been looted from shops, and the discovery of one red and one black face mask, among other items.
The items confiscated during the operation included 10 expended pump-action gun cartridges and nine expended shells of AK-47 rifle ammunition.
