The commissioner said Umeh has been granted the opportunity to study any course of her choice at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Chuma-Udeh said the administration of Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra state governor, would continue to pay great attention to education in the state.

“Nkechinyere Umeh has been declared the best by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), having scored a cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 UTME,” she said.

“This is a testament that efforts by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration to reposition the education sector is yielding the desired dividend.

“This scholarship will encourage and motivate her to do more in future and also serve as an example to other students of the state.”

This year’s UTME started on April 25 and ended on May 3.

In the same month, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released the results of the examination.

A total of 1,595,779 candidates had registered to take the examination in 708 CBT centres across 105 examination towns in the country.

In another report, the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) has sounded an alarm, disclosing that certain individuals who are not affiliated with their organization have been masquerading as members, carrying pump action rifles. This impersonation poses a grave concern for the AVG, which has served as a longstanding ally to secular security agencies in their collective battle against insecurity within the state.

Distinguished by their authorisation to bear pump action rifles, in contrast to the automatic firearms typically carried by conventional security agents, the AVG has tirelessly collaborated with these agencies to ensure public safety and combat security threats.

With their commendable efforts, the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) has played a crucial role in apprehending criminals across diverse communities. However, it is important to note that the AVG operates under a strict mandate to promptly transfer the apprehended individuals to the police.
