Imo Guber: Uzodinma Dumps Deputy, Picks Female Running Mate

The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma has dropped his incumbent deputy, Placid Njoku, for a female running mate ahead of the November elections. 

Uzodimma has now settled for Nnedinma Ekomaru, a female lawyer, as his running mate for the upcoming 2023 guber polls.

Governor Uzodinma had picked Engr. Ralph Nwosu, the Commissioner for Works as the placeholder, which left room for lobbying and speculations.

Ekomaru, a legal luminary who has been practicing law for over two decades, is married to Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

She hails from the Umunoha community in Mbaitoli local government area of the state.

Her husband, Chief Chukwuma contested for governor in the state few years ago under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but didn’t win the primary election.

The Eastern Updates gathered that the official submission of Barr. Ekomaru’s name as Uzodinma’s running mate has been made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Uche Odunze, has boasted that his party would defeat Uzodimma in the upcoming election.

Odunze, who spoke in Owerri, the during the public presentation of his running mate, Godstime Samuel, said the ANPP would drastically tackle insecurity in the state if elected into power.

According to him, the Uzondimma-led All Progressives Congress administration has mismanaged the state and many people are now running away from the state because of insecurity, bad governance, and infrastructural decay.

Odunze said that the manifesto of his party would be a compass for his administration to fix the health, education and tourism sectors of the state.
