Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has praised the outgoing Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi for the exceptional transformation of the state.
He made the commendation yesterday while inaugurating the Goodluck Jonathan Flyover, Iyere Edda.
It is arguably the longest flyover bridge in the Southeast.
Also inaugurated by the former President were Amasiri-Owutu-Ebunwana and Owutu-Amoso roads in Edda Local Government.
Jonathan, accompanied by his wife, Dame Patience, lauded Governor Umahi for his zeal to transform the lives of the people.

Governor Umahi said the flyover was named after the former President for his role in the enthronement of the current administration in the state.
‘Let me explain to Edda people that this is the mother of Mr. President that God used to bring us to power. So we have to be eternally thankful to them. This is why we have named this flyover after him. We chose this flyover because it was tasking building it,’ he said.
Ex-President Jonathan and his wife arrived in the state via Ebonyi International Airport, Onueke.
Jonathan, while also inaugurating the 23.5km Amasiri-Owutu-Ebunwana-Ekoli road, said he was awed by the magnitude and quality of infrastructure by the Umahi administration.
‘A great work has been done in the state and when you look at the quality, you will discover that the governor means well for the people.
‘I have traveled to many states, especially the new ones created with Ebonyi and discovered that the governor has done quality work for his people.
‘The type of projects I see here, I don’t see in those states and I sometimes wonder where you get money to be executing these kinds of projects,’ he said.
He described Umahi as a ‘prudent manager of resources’ and such was helping the state greatly.
‘I pray for the governor and his wife to move from one level of success to the other because he has a clear heart.
‘He is committed, always working for the people and I inaugurate the projects for the good and usage of the people,’ he said.
Gov. Umahi in his remarks, thanked the former president and wife for honouring the invitation, noting that they deserved the honour given to them.
Umahi remarked that he was embarking on the inauguration of several projects of his administration to ensure they were put into use for the peoples’ benefit.
