Frozen Accounts: We Have Not Been Served – Abia Commissioner

Listen to article

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Abia State, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, has provided an update on purported frozen state government accounts, stating that, till date, the government has not been served with processes from anyone.

He disclosed this in a statement, stressing: ‘Government has uncovered, with utmost disgust, obvious link between the governor-elect, Alex Otti, and his enablers with the obnoxious act of freezing state government’s accounts through subversive ex parte order procured in Abuja.’

He stated that government has made it clear that the only reason for this act was to cripple state government operations by using a contrived judicial coup d’etat.

He added: ‘The anonymous litigants have seized all copies of the affidavit, and no copy of the processes has been served on state government.’

The commissioner consequently wondered from where Ferdinand Ekeoma, Alex Otti, Umeh Kalu and other Labour Party members “got the idea that the suit was instituted by so called contractor if they are not privy to this madness.”

According to Chikamnayo, while Otti’s Media Adviser, Ferdinand Ekeoma, was denying it, a front line member of LP, Kazie Uko, started posting on his Facebook page that this same suit was meant to deny workers and contractors of their emoluments and dues.

He said: ‘We wish to clarify that Abia workers, contractors and citizens, who are being targeted by this subversive elements, have seen through the shenanigans and deceit.

‘Despite their primitive draconian tactics, government has commenced the payment of current salaries; nothing can be more deceitful than this kind of deception.’

The freezing of the accounts has continued to generate reactions among citizens of the state.
