Lagos Ohanaeze Holds Igbo Cultural Celebration

In their quest to promote Igbo culture and tradition and show that the people are united, members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter, will today and tomorrow celebrate Igbo Cultural Day in Lagos State. 

President of the Lagos State chapter, Chief Sunday Ossai had last week inaugurated the Igbo Cultural Celebration Planning Committee to plan and execute the event.

He had charged members of the committee to organise an Igbo cultural celebration that would bring pride and joy to members of the organisation.

Speaking at the inuaguaration, the Chairman of the committee, Prince Ubochi C. Ubochi, promised that the committee would execute an event that would be the pride of every Igbo resident in Lagos State and beyond.

He went on to disclose that the theme of the event as ‘Nmeme’ Ohanaeze Lagos 2022, adding that the celebration will be the biggest Igbo cultural celebration ever witnessed in Lagos State.

He said the first day of the event, December 2, 2022, would be the maiden Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony and would hold at  Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The second day would be an outdoor event to be held at the Police College, GRA Ikeja.

‘This field event will showcase the rich Igbo cultural heritage in addition to march past and cultural displays by the representatives of all 57 Local Governments Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), youths, the market associations, state Town Unions and other stakeholders,’ he said.

He said highlights of the 2-day event would be a lecture and unveiling of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo House.  He said there would be cultural displays, fashion parades and variety of Igbo foods and delicacies for everyone to enjoy.
