A group known as the Whistleblowers Anti-Corruption Reporting Network (WARN) has been the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in Enugu in a renewed effort in the war against corruption in the state.
At the inauguration, ICPC charged the network to work hard to eradicate corrupt practices in all the local governments in Enugu State.
ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, who gave the charge to members of WARN also urged them to ensure uprightness and transparency while carrying out their duties.
Owasanoye, who was represented by the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Enugu State, Mr. Enosa Omoighibo, urged them to be professional and win the confidence of the public.
He said, “Your task needed utmost professionalism and confidentiality in order for you to win public trust and through that you get the needed information and vital intelligence to nail down corruption.”
The ICPC boss who warned that ‘unless we eradicate corruption, it will sink the whole country,’ commended WARN for its support to the commission and other anti-graft agencies within the country.
Owasanoye urged Nigerians to join the fight against corruption to better the lot of the country and its future generation.
