Mrs. Christy Uba who is a Director at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), will now oversee the federal agency after President Muhammadu Buhari sacked the erstwhile Director-General, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah a few days ago.

According to a statement signed by NYSC spokesperson, Eddy Megwa, Uba will oversee the agency until the President appoints a substantive Director-General.

‘Following the removal of Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as Director General, National Youth Service Corps by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Mrs Christy Uba, Director, Information and Communications Technology, the most senior Director in the Scheme has taken over the leadership of the Corps in the capacity of Overseer, pending the appointment of a substantive Director General by Mr. President,’ the statement said.

The Eastern Updates reports that Fadah’s removal is coming barely six months after his appointment as the NYSC boss in May 2022.

When contacted by newsmen, the NYSC spokesman, Eddy Megwa, called on reporters to wait for an official statement that would be issued on Friday.

In another development, a director of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Dr. Monica Eimunjeze, has taken over as Acting Director-General of the agency.

This is following the expiration of the tenure of Professor Mojisola Adeyeye as the DG of the agency.

A senior staff in the agency, who craved anonymity, confirmed this to our correspondent on Thursday evening.

The source said, ‘The most senior director, Monica, took over. But we have not had a meeting with her because it happened this evening.’

Efforts to reach the agency’s Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola, on the development proved abortive as he did not take his calls or respond to the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.
