The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo has assured Nigerians that the government he heads would not bow to the activities of unscrupulous elements.

Soludo gave this assurance at the 2022 Onitsha Ofala Festival held at Ime-Obi palace in Onitsha.

The governor showered praises on Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, and described his 20-year reign as a period of impactful leadership.

He said the revered monarch had made positive contributions to Igbo land as the Chairman of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers and Anambra Council of Traditional Rulers.

Soludo noted that Achebe had upheld the cultural identity of Anambra and the region in general.

‘Our identity is who we are, and Igbo have a rich culture because people with questionable character don’t get titles in Igbo land. We have to go back to the values that define us – hard work, perseverance.’

Soludo reiterated that Anambra was safe and charged traditional rulers and communities to continue to rid the state of criminals.

‘Anambra is safe and will continue to be safe; light and darkness will never mix; gunmen and touts must relocate from our state.’

HRH Alfred Achebe ascended the throne on May 14, 20O2. The holder of the CFR national title is the chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).

The Eastern Updates had on Saturday, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Agbogidi who is the Obi of Onitsha, described his 20-year reign as the traditional ruler of the historic town of Onitsha as a journey of leadership charged with the sole purpose of fast-forwarding an ancient traditional society to the 21st century.

In an address at his 2022 Ofala Festival of Igwe Achebe, he said that there is no end in sight for that role because change is a continuous process.
