The Governor noted that insecurity has challenged the government so much and it will “continue to encourage the military and other arms of the Armed Forces to help the government bring peace and ensure security to the South East.”

Governor Uzodimma said that “all efforts being made to stamp them out criminality has been futile as they are adamant in their activities of destroying government property, killing innocent citizens, burning down police stations and generally retarding development in the zone.”

He used the opportunity to commend the Commanding Officer in charge of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Bridg. Gen. S. Sulaiman whom he said has done a lot of work with his men in the fight against banditry and criminality, where even some of the military men paid the supreme price in the course of duty.

In a similar report, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has finally announced that Nigeria still has some hope despite the country’s basket-full challenges at 62.

Governor Uzodinma had also spoken on Sunday at the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral Owerri during a church service which had been made to mark the 62nd independence anniversary of Nigeria.

He had also challenged some Nigerians to make sure that they stand up to tackle the challenges retarding the progress of the nation.

He advised Nigerians to learn to differentiate the meaning of collective interest as against individual or personal interest, noting that “what defines a Nation is collective interest.”

Governor Uzodimma explained that all nations have their peculiar challenges, “but we must take time to study how countries overcame such challenges and deplore proactive approaches in confronting the challenges of our time.
