In lieu of the recent statements by the IPOB, the Imo State Government have come out to openly dismiss the threat which had been issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ahead of the visit of the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to the state on Tuesday.

Emelumba, who was reacting to a threat issued by IPOB declaring a sit-at-home in the state on Tuesday, insisted that security operatives were ready for the president’s visit to Imo.

IPOB had declared a sit-at-home across the Southeast on Tuesday. IPOB tagged the sit-at-home a day of civil action across the Southeast.

The group declared the order ahead of the Appeal Court hearing of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and Buhari’s planned visit to the Southeast.

“Nobody can threaten Buhari. He’s president and commander in chief of the federal republic of Nigeria. Imo is one of the states he governs, and he is free to visit it. Security is in top gear, and I can assure you that his visit will be successful,” Emelumba said.

Buhari is expected to inaugurate three signature projects built by governor Hope Uzodinma administration on Tuesday.

In another report, amidst the surging security crisis in the country, The Nigerian Army asserts it won’t give in to the pressure and intimidation from the International Society for Civil Liberty and Rule of Law which is allegedly attempting to taint the Reputation and image of the Force.

This was announced said by The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement which was obtained by The Eastern Updates on Sunday.

Nwachukwu claimed that INTERSOCIETY has followed up with its stunts of defaming the Nigerian army while supporting separatists, criminal groups, and illegitimate organizations.

He stated that the organization’s claim that the Nigerian military, particularly the army, had been collaborating with armed herdsmen/bandits to terrorize the Eastern region of the country and Benue was false, baseless, and demeaning.

He claims that a quick inspection of the material indicates a routine pattern of misinformation by the notorious, compensated jobbers and fifth columnists known as INTERSOCIETY.
