3 Arrested For Selling Twins For ₦3m, Killing Mum In Enugu

Report reaching The Eastern Updates has it that three women have been reportedly nabbed by The Enugu State Police Command for conspiring to sell newborn twins and killing of their mother following agreement.

This was said in a message issued and made accessible by the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, on Friday.

According to the report, the accused Ukorie Cynthia (age 25), Onyia Pauline (age 56), and Aroh Ijeoma (age 39) were held in custody on Friday at the Enugu Maximum Correctional Facility.

According to the statement, the suspects were initially detained on July 26, 2022, by officers of the command linked with the Central Police Station Enugu in response to accusations that they had planned to sell twin newborns owned by one Chinenye Odoh, age 31.

Besides selling the infants, the statement claimed that the accused allegedly murdered the kids’ mother by poisoning her food after she discovered that the culprits had given her less money than they had received for the newborns they had sold.

As indicated in the statement, the case had been rescheduled for October 5, 2022 when the trial will take place.

A man named Daniel Chigozie was detained by the Lagos State Police Command on Friday for reportedly conniving with two other individuals to sell his three-month-old child for N400,000.

According to reports, Chigozie, after allegedly conniving with his doctor, Musa Peter, and a nurse, Ezieke Chinenye, sold the baby to another woman identified as Ezeobi Chinenye, without the knowledge of the baby’s mother.

It was reported that after a futile search for the infant, the police were notified, and finally the suspects were taken into custody.

On Thursday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state command’s spokesman, tweeted: ‘A father connived with his doctor and nurse and sold his three-month-old- baby to a woman for N400, 000 without the knowledge of the mother. After days of searching, the police were informed. All suspects arrested. Baby is safe’‘

In response to inquiries, Hundeyin stated that the event took place on August 20, 2022 at Oke-Odo, Lagos, and that the suspects were taken into custody on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
