In lieu of the recent kidnappings and abductions in the region, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL have come out to openly condemn and berate the abduction of some four Catholic Reverend Sisters by gunmen on Sunday.

The Eastern Updates had  reported that the armed men who had been suspected to be bandits had been abducted while they were on their way to mass on Sunday morning along the popular Okigwe – Enugu expressway, Imo State.

Some of the victims aklso include Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamelu, and Benita Agu.

While reacting to the development, the  President General of COSEYL, Goodluck Ibem in a statement on Monday, alleged that some of the Fulani Jihadists and terrorists have taken over the forests and bushes of the expressway for their illicit business despite the presence of the military and police at different checkpoints.

The statement reads, “The kidnapping of Christian leaders on that expressway and other parts of the country especially the north where Catholic priests and other Clergymen are kidnapped on a daily basis is totally unacceptable.

“Many Catholic Priests and Christian Leaders are being kidnapped and killed by Fulani Jihadists on daily basis in Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammad Buhari and none of the perpetrators has been arrested by security agents.

“We don’t need a mirror to look at what we already have in our hands. The Fulani Jihadists and terrorists have declared war on Christians in Nigeria.

“President Buhari has shown Nigerians that he lacks capacity to lead our country and we expect him to do the honourable thing by resigning his position.

“We call on the Umulolo Community and all communities along the Okigwe – Enugu expressway to mobilize their youths to guard their forests from invaders who pretend to be herdsmen when they are not. The youths should resist any form of cattle grazing in their communities.

“We, therefore, call on well-meaning Nigerians to wake up and defend their country from these Fulani terrorists and Jihadists who have invaded our nation to destroy it”.
