Ebonyi CP Confirms Burning Down Of Police Station In Umahi’s Hometown

The Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State command, CP, Phillip Maku on Thursday confirmed the burning down of a police division located at Uburu community, Ohaozara local government area of the state.

Maku noted that some of his police officers at the Uburu police division sustained several degrees of injuries while trying to manage the situation.

It was gathered that the suspected hoodlums stormed Uburu community, the hometown of the minister of science and technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi.

The Eastern Updates learned that the burnt police station is located at the back of the minister of science and technology House, Onu.

However, an eye witness from the area who spoke to Newsmen on unanimity narrated that the hoodlums struck around 1pm and that the hoodlums overpowered the Policemen on duty who ran for their lives.

He further informed that the pandemonium generated by the invasion made the villagers living around the station to scamper for safety while the hoodlums carted away valuables from the station as they set the buildings on fire.

‘The attackers and others who had the mind to enter the scene early looted Plasma Televisions, Generators and some guns,’ the witness said.
